Name: Thomas Marvolo Riddle.
Gender: Male.
Age: 17.
Birthday: 31st of December, 1926.

Sign: Capricorn. The traits emphasized here will be ambition, determination, discipline, and pragmatism. You can't make that castle in the sky if you don't build a solid foundation under it, and Capricorns excel at building foundations. (Actually, they excel at planning the foundations and directing others to do the grunt labour. It's not that they're afraid to get their hands dirty, but large work usually requires delegation and a staff, and Capricorns are managers more often than not.) While not flamboyant or showy about it, Capricorns still tend to be obsessive overachievers, a common trait in House Slytherin. Too, wizards born under the sign of Capricorn are good at being discreet, secretive, and diplomatic; whereas the Libra's diplomacy is based on charm and a desire for harmony, the Capricorn's diplomacy is based on the knowledge that being on good terms with people is extremely useful in getting one's way or finding out sensitive information. These also are traits commonly associated with House Slytherin. They might not be sexy traits, but they're very handy.

Wand: 13 1/2 inches, yew, core is a tail feather of the phoenix Fawkes. Purchased from Ollivander's.
Familiar: A young, as-of-yet unnamed, serpent.
Animagus: Snake.
Other Skills: Parselmouth.

Appearance: Tom is tall and unquestionably handsome, with a slightly pale complexion that only adds to the appeal of his appearance, and piercing dark brown eyes that seem like they could stare right into a person's soul - and they often do. He has features that seem to be carved out of marble, long fingers, graceful limbs, a delicate face.

First Impression: Tom Riddle stands out from a crowd especially by not doing so. He dresses well, but not in any way extravagantly, often prefering a clean and proper uniform over his own clothes even outside school grounds. He moves with grace and precision, gliding through a room and leaving it again before many realise he was even there. His every word speaks of tremendous determination, and every action he undertakes, no matter how simple it may appear, carries a great force of will behind it.

Mirror Of Erised: In the looking-glass that shows that which one most desires Tom Riddle would see nothing more or less than himself, exactly the same as he now is - except that he would be able to see in the eyes of his own reflection a supreme confidence that comes only when one knows oneself to be immortal and all-powerful.

Boggart: Most horrific to Tom's mind is death, and in particular his own. To strike fear in Tom's heart a boggart would undoubtedly turn itself into his corpse - pained, disgraced, forever ended.

Personality:

Trying to get a grip on Tom Riddle's mind is much like peeling an onion - the layers are endless and one is as likely to go blind with tears as one is to get to the truth in any shape or form. A drastically simplified character sketch of Tom would dub him a sociopath, a person concerned only with their own desires, unable to feel the pain of others, and not burdened by any semblance of morality.

Of course, that is not the Tom Riddle most people see. On the outside he is a model student, always eager to increase his knowledge and improve his skills. He is respectful of his teachers, but not to so great an extent that his peers would consider him a sycophant. In fact, he is quite popular. Tom takes nobody into his confidence, but he is charming and interesting, and a wide array of people would consider themselves his friends.

They are wrong, of course. Tom Riddle is a manipulator, a user who gets what he needs from any and all social connections he makes, and then discards them without a second's thought. This process can sometimes take time, and Tom is noted for his patience in allowing his many different plans and schemes to come to fruition.

The eventual goal of these is simple: power. Tom was vulnerable in the past and will stop at nothing to make certain that he is never vulnerable again. In the end he means to conquer death, the one thing his steel heart still fears, but in the meantime the entire world awaits, waiting for him to claim dominion.

Family History:

Although he'll vehemently deny the very thought of it, Tom Riddle is a half-blood, born of the witch Merope Gaunt, a descendant of Hogwarts founder Salazar Slytherin, and a wealthy muggle called Tom Riddle. Both lived in the village of Little Hangleton, a place the Riddle family all but ruled over from within their hill-top mansion.

The love Merope felt for Tom was not in any way returned, so she resorted to magic to make him share her feelings. A guilty conscience eventually convinced her to undo what she had done, and Tom abandoned her immediately, but by this time she was already pregnant with a son. Merope died hours after giving birth, able only to give Tom Riddle his name.

Without a pound or galleon to his name, Tom was raised in a grim London orphanage, where the other children disliked him and his peculiar ways. From an early age Tom found he was able to do things others couldn't, to make other people hurt if he wanted to - and as, over the years, his suffering grew into hate, he realised he did want to. By the time Albus Dumbledore came to take eleven-year-old Tom Riddle to attend Hogwarts, the boy's soul had shriveled up and died.

As an orphan desperate for a destiny and the safety of power, Tom rejoiced at learning he was the Heir of Slytherin. He would be less enthused to learn about being of part-muggle blood, as already his theories on the purity of the wizarding community are beginning to develop. The ease with which people of little talent can enter Hogwarts frustrates Tom, as do all things which seem to diminish the uniqueness of his own gifts.

Relationships:

Friends - Tom Riddle has no friends. Instead he has objects, collected and discarded like the mere baubles he perceives them to be. All the same, he can be very pleasant when he wants to be, and far more people think favourably of him than don't.

Enemies - Tom has about as many enemies in Hogwarts as there are people, but of course only he knows this. Most of his fearsome loathing is spared for those he thinks unworthy, like non-purebloods, and those he perceives as threats to himself and his goals.

Loves - Tom loves only himself, but he wouldn't hesitate to play the born romantic, a role for which he is well-suited, if it would further his aims in some way. He might even derive a certain sadistic pleasure from leading an innocent astray.

Year: Seventh.
House: Slytherin.

Recent Developments:

In the course of his magical experimentation Tom once found himself transported to a bizarre nexus of realities known to its occupants as The Dressing Room. Returning frequently to this place, Tom discovered much of his potential future, and also began a thoroughly one-sided relationship with Ginevra Weasley, who has since pledged to help him transfer over to her reality and time.
